South of Thanh Hoa and North of Nghe An province is an area which have many potentials in the construction material producing, especially for the cement making. To exploit the valuable raw material in the area, satisfy the increasing demand of cement material in the country as well as to create the works for the local residents, increase the debit of state budget, Nghe An province has planned to set up a modern cement plant with the advanced technology.

On October 07th, 1995, Nghe An cement company (which is now renamed Hoang Mai Cement Company - HMCC) was founded. After the steps of carrying out the procedures in accordance with the regulations of the Construction and Investment, On April 15th, 1996, the Prime Minister of Vietnam has signed the Decision no. 216/TTg approved the investment of Hoang Mai Cement Plant with the capacity of 4,000 tons of clinker per day (equal to 1.4 million tons of cement per year)

After 36 months (started from June 1999) of construction, installation, running test, performance test under the guidance and supervision of FCB’s specialists (France) and International consultants (Jurong- Singaphore), on March 6th , 2002, the first tons of clinker were produced successfully at the very first lighting of the kiln. This date had mark a point of a sustainable development of Hoang Mai Cement Company.

Being the first company in the Vietnam National Cement Corporation (VNCC) applied the policy of selling cement through the main distributors, Hoang Mai Cement Company has optimize the social capability of cement consumption and has built a good share of the common benefit and success between the producer and distributors. At present, Hoang Mai Cement Company has 33 distributors in all over the country in which there are 03 project distributors who are specialized in supplying cement for the big construction projects. Nearly five years presented in the national market, Hoang Mai cement product has not only been used for the civil construction but also for the big national projects such as Vinh Tuy bridge project (Ha Noi), Ban Ve hydroelectric project (Nghe An), Huongson hydroelectric project (Ha Tinh), National conference Center (Ha Noi), Cua Dat irrigation and hydroelectric project (Thanh Hoa), Ho Ho hydroelectric project (Quang Binh), Buon Koup hydroelectric project (Dac Lac), etc… The annual selling quantity of cement is increasing over the yeas.

On August 2004, Hoang Mai Cement Company has gained both the Certificate of Quality Management System ISO 9001-2000 and the Certificate of Environment Management System ISO 14001 issued by the Informatic Center for Standard, Metrology and Quality. The cement product of HMC has received many awards, gold medals at the Trade Fairs held in Hanoi, Vinh City, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City; achieved the 2004 Vietnam Gold Star Award; 2004 Vietnam Product Quality Award; 2005 Vietnam Best quality Product Award; 2005 Gold Award and the Congratulatory Certificate from the Prime Minister.
